It all started with Yvette Yu, she was a young teenager who had big dreams. She always loved fitness and she also used to own a gym and a fitness centre of her own back in 2009 in the Philippines.

When she came and migrated to Toronto back in 2014, she tried her best to get in and find a career within the fitness centers in Toronto but found it difficult because of tight competition.

Because she was really passionate in her advocacy of bringing people together, she dreamt of having her own fitness center where people can bond with each other through physical fitness. In pursuit of her dreams of building a business in the fitness realm, she was able to set up a Zumba event that lasted for 6 hours so attendees can come and leave anytime within that 6 hours of dancing giving them the flexibility of time. This Zumba event made it possible for her to enjoy the privilege in sharing her advocacy of getting different ethnicities together in a community to do a Zumba event for 6 hours dance, which no one did before. This was the time she partnered with PCCT.

This made her realize that it is possible to also prioritize one’s health and fitness amid the busyness of life doing daily routines, household chores, groceries, laundry, etc.

She felt she needed to do something about the situation but she had no clue how this would all work, her dreams, and her aspirations not just for her but for others as well who had been neglecting their health for years.
She was challenged with the situation so she came up with a different approach for people to get into fitness and make it a habit.

With Yvette’s leadership and direction, Zumba marathon become a yearly event to help foundations or organizations that are in dire need. Special guests like artists, instructors, and presenters are invited to participate in the said event.

Her perseverance did not stop her from accomplishing her goals and dreams.

Doing charity works even in the most simplest way makes her fulfilled and keeps her going. Hoping and wishing that one day she could build a foundation for the less fortunate.

In the past years, she was able to expand her Zumba marathon Canada-wide. She travelled to different cities such as Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. Aside from Canada, she was able to do one major event in her home country, Philippines, in February 2020. With the success of these events, proceeds were donated to Siay Zamboanga Sibugay School and Dimataling Elementary School in the Philippines.

At present, she is now moving to a larger venue located at 1320 Ellesmere Road Unit 8 where it can occupy 500 people for fitness and social events, along with charitable events she regularly hosts.
She remains humble in her endeavour of helping charitable institutions wishing that more supporters and sponsors with the same advocacy will unite and provide assistance to these institutions.

Aside from the big events Zdance Marathon Production hosts, Yvette also partners with non-profit organizations for their fundraising events to help the local community and children.

In spite of all the challenges she experienced along the way, she is now a proud owner of a bigger location which she chose to call “The Stage Magna Studio and Event Center.” It is a 4000 sq foot venue where she plans to host her upcoming events. She will also rent out the venue vendors or event organizers to host their own events such as trainings, seminars, conference, corporate events, pictorial, weddings, parties, and she even have a studio recording available for the artists.

This venue will help in creating an entire amazing people and community who have the same passion for helping others. She hopes that when people think of “Stage Magna”, it is not only an event center but they will associate it as a place where people with a common purpose get together in achieving their fitness goals while helping others.

She would also like to express her gratitude and appreciation to the person behind all of these magnificent outcome, Mr. Samir Bustos. He has always been Yvette’s big supporter and the man behind the camera in all of their events and projects. Without him, there will be no ZDance Marathon and The Stage Magna.

Name : Yvette Yu

A girl with a thousand dreams.

Dancing has always been a passion of mine. I was already dancing and singing on stage in junior kindergarten and doing declamations in grade school. I also joined the cheer dancing team and participated in several contests. During my high school years, I got hooked with physical fitness and started going to the gym.

Because of my enthusiasm with physical fitness, I dreamt of having my own fitness center and teach aerobic classes. So in 2009 through hard work and dedication, my dream came true and I opened my very own gym. I have a first hand experience of being a fitness student, so I am giving back to my students what they need and always encourage them to just dance and enjoy the rhythm of the music. Dancing is the best therapy there is.
I love doing choreography for different genre, but I also enjoy sleeping and watching tv series on my spare time. Aside from that, I am a people person so I would love to get to know you!
Come and join us.. your first class is on me!

Dancing of any genres has always been my form of passion.

Now, I live to share my talent in the fitness industry. We are not just working out, but we are also having fun doing different dances and fitness routines together and Zdance has given me a great opportunity for this purpose.

Come to our classes and lets achieve this goal together. Motivate, inspire, and enjoy the moment we spend together.

Aside from being an artist , dancing is my first love since I was a kid.

I started dancing in public when I was 5 . I was lucky enough to be part of show business as one of the professional group dancers on Philippine television under WEA and BMG recording companies . Those are the things that fulfilled my passion and my social life aside from my Dentistry profession during my younger years.

Being part of Zdance here in Toronto has allowed me to enjoy dancing again. It inspired me to become Retro fitness and Zumba Instructor.

I am glad to share my enthusiasm for dancing , choreography and fitness . I love having fun with our students and encouraging them to be self confident and active. So come and join us and be part of our growing Zdance family.
